Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 June 2026
This is a starting-point template, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a professional before you rely on it for a public service.
Who we are
Evenly ("we", "the app") is a household expense-splitting service. For questions about your data, contact the operator of this instance at the email shown in the app.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, a display name, and a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
- Household data you enter: member names, monthly incomes (salaries), and the expenses you add. This is financial information, so we treat it carefully.
- Technical data: a single signed session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
Why we use it
Solely to provide the service: to authenticate you, to keep your household in sync between members, and to calculate the fair split. The lawful basis is performance of our agreement with you (providing the app you signed up for).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and do not share it for marketing. Your household data is visible only to the members of your household. Data is processed on the infrastructure used to host this instance (for example, a server and an email provider used to send password-reset messages).
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your membership and personal data are removed; if you are the only member of a household, the household and its expenses are deleted with it.
Your rights
- Access and portability: export your household data as JSON from Settings.
- Erasure: delete your account at any time from Settings.
- Correction: edit your details and entries directly in the app.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. It is required for the app to work, so there is no tracking-consent banner.
Children
The app is intended for adults managing a household budget and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Significant changes will be communicated in the app.
